The Mira Long Term Care Center

The Mira is a 90 unit Long Term Care Center, built by GEM Health Care in 1999, and accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services. Located at the top of Young street, it is a single floor facility overlooking beautiful downtown Truro and surrounding areas. Residents find it to be the ideal place for them to live, as they generally are unable to perform various activities of their daily lives, and the Mira has the professional staff to accommodate any needs that the residents may have.

The staff at The Mira, under the direction of their administrator, Mrs Lynn Smith, is committed to providing its residents, as well as their families, with a stress free living experience. This generally includes ensuring any residents' needs, including cleaning, dressing, medication administration, and meal preparation are looked after. Committed to lifelong learning, we believe the continuous retraining and upgrading of our professionals' knowledge is the key to delivering the best health care possible.

The Mira Long Term Care Center is also a unique seniors' residential care facility, as they have many programs and policies that are not required for a facility of its level of care, such as a Peritoneal Dialysis unit, a seniors' Dental Clinic, and a Palliative Care room.

In ensuring our residents realize the most uplifting experience possible, we have plenty of activities to keep them as active and amused as they prefer. Whether it be going for a scenic drive, a game of cards with some new friends, entertainment that comes in from the local area, or any of the other activities organized by our full time recreation director, we're confident that The Mira is the ideal place to be.
