Melville Heights Independent Living Facility has been carefully planned and designed to provide a truly luxurious rental retirement experience. The attention to detail is apparent from the time you step into the beautifully furnished lobby until you enter your well-appointed suite. All of the common areas have soft tones, fine furnishings, and rich fabric, and have been constructed with the retired mature adult in mind.
Most suites have a beautiful panoramic view of Halifax's Northwest Arm as well as the Armdale Yacht Club and the Atlantic Ocean. The many surrounding gardens and 
professional landscaping is also favored by our residents and they even are encouraged to help with their experience and ideas.
Our apartments, which are bachelor, one and two bedroom each boast a full kitchen with stove and refrigerator, ample cupboard space, a large family/dining room, and a large bedroom(s) with a walk-in closet. You'll even preserve some of your independence with your own mailbox, telephone, and cable connections.
Our elegant formal dining room is the envy of many Halifax hotels. You can choose home style flair, or world class cuisine lovingly prepared by professional restaurateurs and served by our courteous wait staff. Each 
evening we prepare a well balanced dinner focusing attention on a healthier dining experience, accented by warm home made bread, crisp green salads, and/or soup of the day. This is topped off with a creation from our pastry chef.
We understand that beginning a new phase of life can be unsettling, especially if it's done alone, so from the moment a resident arrives, we provide a warm caring welcome and ensure that he/she gets anything they need.
At Melville Heights we encourage our residents to pursue and independent private life, the same that they are used to at home, but with the safety and security of round the clock health care professionals. Our residents 
are also encouraged to entertain their guests, whether it be for afternoon tea, over for dinner, or even to spend the night. Overnight guests have the choice of staying with the resident or can even reserve a guest room for themselves. Dinner reservations can also be made in a private dining room where residents are able to entertain their guests.
Residents are also free to bring their own vehicles, but can also take advantage of the access bus which is used for various resident outings. These may include entertainment in Halifax, such as a play or dinner, or scenic drives throughout different areas of Nova Scotia, such as Mahone Bay and the Eastern Shore.
We also have plenty of activities that keep our residents as amused as they prefer. A newly installed theater entertains residents on weekend evenings, and they are also encouraged to take advantage of this when any family or guests come to visit. Stop by our library and spend timeless moments lost in a popular best seller, a classic novel, or just keeping current with the latest news. Some residents also take advantage of our Internet class, where they can keep in contact with family and friends who may not be close enough to visit often.
A fully furnished apartment for Respite Care is available for the elderly who live with family but require accommodation for a temporary period of time. This could be while the family is vacationing, or if the person just wants to become familiar with the concept of retirement living.
For those people who are concerned about their future health and wellness needs, Melville Heights is the ideal place. Located on the Melville Campus you are near Melville Gardens, a licensed residential care facility, and Melville Lodge, a 
CCHSA accredited nursing home.
Also located in the Melville community is the Melville Ridge Professional Center. For the convenience of our residents, they will find a
Lawton's Drug Mart, as well as Physicians, Physiotherapists, and
a Denturist who are available to see residents by appointment.
