Glades Lodge Long Term Care Center, a 123 bed nursing facility, was acquired by GEM Health Care in 1983 and has since been accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services. Residents find this single floor facility to be the ideal place for them to live, as they typically have numerous health care requirements leaving them unable to perform the basic activities of their daily lives, and Glades Lodge has the professional staff and capabilities to accommodate those needs.
To ensure our residents realize the most uplifting experience possible, our full time recreational director has enough activities to keep them as active as they prefer. Whether it be our monthly birthday parties, weekly
bingo, community outings, our external entertainment that often comes to visit, movie nights, or the festive celebrations on all major holidays, we are confident that Glades Lodge provides just the right experience needed.
The staff at Glades Lodge is committed to developing goals, objectives, and action plans that set their direction for improving care and service delivery. In doing this, they have initiated many policies and procedures to improve the well being of the residents, including providing
occupational therapy services, employing a full time social worker, dietitian, and recreational director, and continual training and upgrading of their staff's knowledge.
Our beautifully landscaped surroundings, including the backyard garden with waterfall, provide a calm and relaxing atmosphere. With two separate care units, Glades also has a central dining room, where home cooked meals are enjoyed, a large cozy lounge, and a recreational area.

“Tucked into a peaceful
neighborhood setting right in the heart of the city
of Halifax, Glades Lodge has been providing quality
care for the last 40 years. We realize that choosing
a Long Term Care home for a family member is one of
the most difficult decisions in life. At Glades
Lodge, we endeavor to provide an atmosphere of
support, care, comfort, and compassion. In addition
to providing trained professional nursing staff, we
offer healthy home cooked meals, laundry,
housekeeping, medical services, and beautiful
wandering gardens. We take pride in the services
that we provide and continually strive to enhance
them beyond our residents' expectations. We hold a
valid license with the Department of Health and have received full accreditation status with the Canadian Council on Health Services. Encouraging residents to stay recreationally involved is viewed as a major priority at Glades Lodge. We welcome your interest in our facility and would love to have an opportunity to give you a personal tour of Glades Lodge.”
